Manufacturers have to keep a comprehensive technical data file
for all PPE, except that of 'simple design' (however guidance issued
by the DTI suggests that this should be regarded as good practice
for all manufacturers).
This file must include:
full and detailed plans of the PPE, plus, as appropriate,
notes of calculations and test results
an exhaustive list of the basic health and safety requirements
and any specified standards taken into account in the design of
the PPE
a detailed description of the control and test facilities
used in the manufacturer's plant to check compliance of the production
PPE with EU standards
a copy of the information notice stipulated in Section 1.4
of Annex II of the PPE Directive
The
file must be kept at the disposal of the
DTI for ten years after the manufacture
of production PPE
